Mantrailing

The best game of hide and seek!

Mantrailing is a sport teaching dogs to find people by following their unique scent trail. All dog’s have a natural ability to hunt and therefore Mantrailing provides them with an outlet to do this in a safe, controlled and constructive way.

  • A dog with a black and white coat and a purple harness is tugging on a blue toy inside a plastic bag on a paved sidewalk.

    Taking scent

We teach dogs to take scent from a discarded item of clothing or other object, scented by the trail layer.

  • Person walking a black and white dog on a sidewalk with lush green bushes and a brick building in the background.

    Trailing

We then ask the dogs to search for the trail layer, and let the dog lead the search.

  • A woman is talking to a black and white dog in a forested, grassy area with dense green foliage. The woman is wearing a blue jacket and dark pants, and the dog is seated, looking up at her.

    Indication

Once the dog has successfully found the trail layer we teach them an indication, for example to sit in front of the person.
